What Are Dental Crowns?
Unlike a veneer, a crown completely caps or encircles a tooth. While it requires removal of more tooth structure, it is a better option for teeth that have been weakened by decay, fracture or root canal treatment. Crowns are made of many materials from gold to zirconia (white).
One of the most difficult dental procedures: matching a single front tooth.
This patient traumatized her left front tooth as a child. For years, we discussed replacing the crown due to metal showing by the gum line which was an esthetic concern of hers. After a lot of thought (and time), she decided it was finally time to replace it.
We made her a front tooth that no one would suspect was anything less than natural.
